The Wachiska Audubon Society’s Dieken Prairie south of Unadilla is one of the most diverse prairies in Otoe County. It’s a good spot to watch birds and see wildflowers. Prairie phlox blooms in spring and early summer, black-eyed Susans in mid-June to early July, rough gayfeather in August and ladies’ tresses in autumn.
The Diecken Prairie is located 1.5 miles south of Unadilla. Follow North 20th Road south, turn west on I Road and look for a sign on the south side of the road.
