Trails and Rails Museum
The Trails and Rails Museum in Kearney is located on the old Mormon Trail. The schoolhouse was built in 1871. The Freighter’s Hotel went up in the late 1880s and the depot in 1898. Railroad buffs and children especially enjoy the Union Pacific steam locomotive on display. An extensive archive maintained by the Buffalo County Historical Society reveals Kearney’s long history.
