Nebraska’s Big Rodeo
Burwell has been home to Nebraska's Big Rodeo since the 1920s. Each July, professional rodeo cowboys from across the continent -- and local cowboys who work the Sandhills range every day -- ride broncos and bulls to the loud cheers of thousands of spectators. The event's Wild Horce Race is a hoot. More than 18,000 visitors come to the show over its four days.

Cornhusker Football Game Day

The need for speed is satisfied with the One Mile Shoot Out event 15 miles south of Callaway in conjunction with the Sandhills Open Road Challenge. The current record for the August event is 224.77 miles per hour, but nobody monitors how fast drivers and spectators take to arrive at the Callaway Community Center for lunch afterwards.
