Sidney’s Oktoberfest
The ceremonial tapping of the keg kicks off Sidney’s annual three-day Oktoberfest celebration on the first full weekend in October. Then, the live music, dancing, comedy shows and parade begins. There’s a craft show and, of course, plenty of bratwurst, sauerkraut and beer. The Running of the Wieners dog race and Rod & Roll car show at Legion Park add more thrills to an already fun-packed Cheyenne County weekend.

With a flip of a switch Gene Leahy Mall in Omaha dazzles with more than a million lights Thanksgiving evening. Downtown celebrations in December include outdoor holiday concerts, a temporary ice-skating rink and a family festival with free trolley service and admission to the Durham Museum, the Joslyn Art Museum and other top local attractions.
