Wayne Chicken Show
Thousands of chickens raised in Wayne County and surrounding communities lay millions of eggs each year. This important industry is the inspiration for the world-famous Wayne Chicken Show. The July event features plucky contestants imitating barnyard fowl in its National Cluck-Off and challenging their capacity for fun in the hard-boiled egg eating contest. The event heats up with the hot wing-eating competition and cools during the wine tasting.

Utica, population 900, feeds travelers’ appetite for fun with a hamburger stand, beer garden, live music, dance and car show during its annual Heritage Days celebration in July. Utica is 14 miles west of Seward on Highway 34.

Burwell has been home to Nebraska's Big Rodeo since the 1920s. Each July, professional rodeo cowboys from across the continent -- and local cowboys who work the Sandhills range every day -- ride broncos and bulls to the loud cheers of thousands of spectators. The event's Wild Horce Race is a hoot. More than 18,000 visitors come to the show over its four days.

This annual event celebrates Hastings' historic ties to a classic American beverage. Edwin Perkins invented Kool-Aid in Hastings in 1927. Family fun reigns here every August with special visits from the Kool-Aid Man, a parade, a car show and giant inflatable fun houses. A 5K fun run, Kool-Aid Kardboard boat races, Kool-Aid chugging contests and the world’s largest Kool-Aid stand make this one super-sweet summer festival.
