The Great Nebraska Mushroom Hunt in Peru welcomes newcomers and veteran fungus finders every April. Experienced hunters teach newbies how to recognize morels’ gray, brown and yellow crowns. Prizes are awarded for “sporesmanship,” largest mushroom, smallest mushroom, oldest and youngest hunters and the hunter who traveled the farthest to join in the spring fun.
