The Village of Hemingford is 18 miles northwest of Alliance and 10 miles north of Hemingford is Box Butte Reservoir, a 1,600-acre lake and recreation area. The reservoir offers excellent fishing, boating, swimming and sailing. It is a state recreation area with picnic areas, hiking and primitive camping.
In Hemingford, the streets are transformed into the Avenue of the Flags for Flag Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Veterans Day.
