Willa Cather State Historic Site

The Willa Cather State Historic Site encompasses 20 historic buildings in Red Cloud and the surrounding area related to the life of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author. Cather moved to the community as a young child and many of her scenes and characters were based on experiences in this rural Nebraska town. Today, the Nebraska State Historical Society offers tours of her childhood home, two churches, a bank, the opera house and the surrounding prairies that she brought to life in her books.
