Thomas P. Kennard State Historic Site
This former home of Nebraska’s first secretary of state, Thomas P. Kennard, is considered the first major structure built after Lincoln was named the state’s capital. Built in 1869, the Nebraska State Historical Society restored the house in 1967 for the state’s centennial. The house is open by appointment only. Tours may be arranged by contacting the Nebraska State Historical Society.
