The Old Freighter’s Museum preserves Nebraska City’s legacy of transporting goods during the settling of the West from 1846 to 1870. The museum’s wood-frame building was erected by the government in 1858 and was originally the home of the area’s quartermaster. A year later it became the home of Russell, Majors and Waddell, a freighting company tasked with supplying the western-most military outposts.
