The Nebraska State Historical Society preserves the Bancroft home where John Neihardt lived from 1900 to 1920. The former Nebraska Poet Laureate is known for his book, “Black Elk Speaks.” Visitors can see the study where the poet wrote, as well as artifacts given to him by Black Elk, a Lakota Holy Man.
