While museums should contain old history, and Hastings Museum does, there are new experiences around every corner. The museum’s state of the art theater has a 65-foot-wide screen, a heart-thumping sound system and new release movies. Life-size fiberglass reproductions of amazing animals from the Cretaceous period hang from the ceiling. Large galleries of wildlife dioramas showing bears, deer, reptiles and other animals inspire wonder in young viewers. The world’s largest flock of taxidermy whooping cranes roosts here. Edwin Perkins invented Kool-Aid in Hastings in 1927. Exhibits chronicle the life of the inventor, and the drink generations of children grew up with.
