Ash Hollow State Historical Park

Ash Hollow State Historical Park preserves pioneer history three miles southeast of Lewellen on Highway 26. A natural spring made this a true oasis along the California and Oregon trails. The passing of thousands of pioneer wagons left ruts that are still visible at the top of Windlass Hill. The visitor center has historical displays and ancient rhinoceros and mammoth fossils.
